Serba Dinamik Annual Report 2021

Section 6 | Sustainability Statement 190 VENDOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME EMPLOYING LOCALS In Malaysia, we are an anchor company under the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative ("MEDAC") and PETRONAS ("VDP x" ) initiatives. Our role as an anchor company is to assist in nurturing and developing local Bumiputera small and medium enterprises ("SME") relating to the provision of maintenance services to the Oil and Gas industry in Malaysia. We are committed to nurture our VDP and VDP x vendors in their pursuit of excellence, enhance industry competitiveness and contribute to the economic growth of the Malaysian industrial community. To date, we have eleven (11) vendors registered under VDP/VDP x . In FPE2021, we awarded RM526.7 million worth of contracts to our VDP/VDP x vendors. Job creation is also a goal we aim to achieve whenever we enter into new geographic markets. The support of locals is beneficial to our operations. During our early years of operating in Bintulu and Miri in Sarawak, Malaysia, we were mainly supported by local Sarawakians, some of whom have been working with us for over 20 years. We intend to create the same impact in the foreign countries where we operate. During the year, we undertook projects in Tanzania and Laos for the development of a chlor-alkali plant and small hydropower plants respectively. More than 60% of our workforce in Tanzania and Laos are locals including site managerial and professional, engineers, technical and service personnel, and clerical and administrative. ^Petronas president and group CEO Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin (left) and Minister of International Trade and Industry Darell Leiking with representatives from the organisations that will implement the VDP x . ^ Our employees in Tanzania for the Chlor-Alkali project DELIVERING SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
