Integrated Report 2021 185 MATERIAL SUSTAINABILITY MATTERS CONTRIBUTION TO UNSDG This year we aligned our sustainability strategy with UNSDG. The UNSDG is an internationally recognised framework that aims to address the three (3) elements of economic growth, environmental protection and social inclusion. Businesses are encouraged to carry out operations with these goals in mind in order to achieve the framework’s ambitious goals by 2030. The following are nine (9) UNSDG that our Group have adopted to achieve a sustainable development. We reduce poverty by creating jobs and hiring locals in the countries that we are operating. We also help out the poor and less fortunate families including our own employees during trying times. We prioritise the health and safety of our employees, customers and community through the provision of initiatives aimed at addressing health and well-being. We invest in educational institutions and set up training centres to provide tertiary and vocational education to young people. We also provide training to our employees in order to help them advance in their careers. We offer scholarships to help students gain access to higher education. We encourage women into the workforce and our culture discourages any form of discrimination on gender. We practice gender equality and equal opportunity in all aspects of employment in our company. We invest and support companies that develop and own water and sanitation-related assets including water supply, water treatment and wastewater management by providing f inancial and technical support to these companies. We invest and support companies that develop and own renewable energy assets including hydropower and biogas power generation by providing f inancial and technical support to these companies. We provide fair remuneration and ensure a conducive working environment for our employees. We develop innovative technologies that are complementary to our core competency, as well as grow our ICT business segment by investing in ICT companies and partnering with experts in the industry. We uphold a high standard of integrity and zero tolerance for unethical business conduct. ▶ At least 50% of our employees in Tanzania and Laos are local. ▶We provide monetary, food and in-kind donations to our community including, B40 households and homeless individuals, to f ight against COVID-19. ▶ Recorded a total of 5,353 training hours focusing on health, safety and environment for our employees. ▶ Acquired University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UNIMY). ▶ 170 students trained through our City & Guilds programmes. ▶ 32 students received scholarship funding through our Serba Dinamik Education Fund. ▶ 12.5% women representation on the Board. ▶ 24% women representation in managerial and professional positions. ▶ Develop water treatment plant in Terengganu. ▶ Develop sewerage treatment plant in Kuala Lumpur. ▶ Develop chlor-alkali plant producing chlorine and caustic soda in Tanzania. ▶ Develop small hydropower plants in Sabah and Laos. ▶ Develop biogas power plant in Johor and Penang. ▶ Zero LTI and fatalities for 14,083,314 man-hours worked. ▶ Remuneration of RM150 million to employees. ▶ Grow our ICT division with 42 new hires. ▶ Launched Innovative Transformation Seed Fund worth RM6 million. ▶ Anti-corruption & Anti-bribery, Work Harassment, Anti- money Laundering Act (AMLA), Terms of Reference (TOR) of subcommittees, Whistleblower Policy, No Gift Policy and business continuity management made available on corporate website.
