Bank Islam Integrated Annual Report 2023

B. Microentrepreneur Development Training Programmes To foster upward mobility and sustainable success among microentrepreneurs. To deepen our commitment to entrepreneurial development, we made significant investments in 2023. Among our notable interventions was a business networking session for the underbanked microentrepreneurs. In the sessions, these entrepreneurs were given opportunities to network and built value-chain among them. In addition to the above, a business development workshop with Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah was also conducted. This workshop was strategically tailored to enhance the skills and capabilities of women in the entrepreneurial sector. Furthermore, we provided tailored post-disbursement training to iTEKAD microentrepreneurs. These programmes are designed not only to enhance their business skills but also to ensure the sustainable growth and success of their ventures. • Facilitated nine (9) business networking sessions, benefiting entrepreneurs in collaborating and supporting each other to upscale their businesses and resolve challenges. • Equipped 50 women entrepreneurs with valuable skills and knowledge through the collaborative workshop. • Enhanced the business acumen of 185 iTEKAD microentrepreneurs, setting them on a path to sustainable success Objective: What We Did: Progress and Achievements: C. Funding Escalator To incubate beneficiaries through social finance funds, enabling them to develop their creditworthiness and business track record, upon which they graduate to source for commercially-driven funding including iTEKAD. We strategically partner with organisations, providing microentrepreneurs with access to crucial resources. These collaborations offer funding in the form of working capital and connect them with business guidance through monitoring and coaching services. This combined expertise and resources empower individuals and contribute to the development of their businesses. Over time, upon their readiness, we shall bring them into commercially-driven funding. Beyond core programmes, we also offer targeted initiatives like the BangKIT Business Grant to support aspiring entrepreneurs who may not yet qualify for full BangKIT or iTEKAD programmes. This grant, along with other partnerships, helps individuals in the pre-commercialisation stage by: Bridging the Funding Gap: Providing financial support for those requiring initial assistance. Facilitating Upward Mobility: Equipping them with the necessary skills to progress towards full programme participation.
