3. Fostering a Culture of Safety and Well-being We prioritise a thriving workforce through strategic initiatives that enhance employee capabilities. These initiatives demonstrably improve compliance, participation, and well-being, leading to a stronger organisation. WOW (Won't Judge, Open, and Win Together) Conversations To foster open, honest, and constructive dialogues amongst our employees. Launched the WOW Conversations platform to promote open constructive dialogue and feedback. This initiative establishes a structured environment for all employees to freely express thoughts, ideas, and constructive feedback in a transparent manner towards developing mutual understanding of a common goal and encouraging change for a more positive impact. Enhanced transparency and collaboration towards a common goal in a positive and psychologically safe work environment that encourage employees open to receiving and honest in giving constructive feedback. Objective: What We Did: Value Created: OSH Conference To enhance Bank Islam’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) compliance across all branches and office premises and foster a safe and healthy working environment for all employees. Leveraging interdepartmental collaboration, the General Administration & Property Department, Branch Operations Department, and the state’s Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) jointly organised the OSH Conference 2023 in May. This initiative engaged teams from regional offices and branches, fostering a comprehensive exchange of knowledge and best practices in occupational safety and health. The OSH Conference served as a valuable platform to educate and empower managers with the necessary knowledge to uphold rigorous OSH legal requirements. Objective: What We Did: Value Created: Kelab Bank Islam At Kelab Bank Islam, we aim to enhance the welfare and well-being of our BITIZENs at Bank Islam. We focus on uniting our employees through sports, recreational activities, and employee bonding, thereby fostering camaraderie and representing our brand at state and national levels. Throughout the year, we organised a variety of activities for our members. These included welfare and spiritual programmes, annual sports, and outdoor events such as mountaineering expeditions to Mount Kinabalu and Everest Base Camp, as well as the Karnival Sukan Kelab Bank Islam. We also proudly represented Bank Islam in external events and national celebrations, facilitating our employees' participation in various competitive and engaging teamwork activities. Objective: What We Did: Progress and Achievements: Our active engagement has led to a significant increase in participation, with the Karnival Sukan Kelab Bank Islam attracting 1,424 employee athletes and 77 volunteers. Our membership reached 4,278 by the end of 2023, governed by a committee of 10 elected members and chaired by the GCHRO, with the GCEO serving as the club’s patron.
