In 1996, he founded a small family-run newsstand, which has since evolved into the Mynews Group—one of Malaysia’s leading retail convenience operators. Today, the Group manages more than 700 outlets nationwide, comprising myNEWS convenience stores, Korea’s CU convenience stores, the UK’s WH Smith travel convenience stores, SUPERVALUE minimarts, and MARU COFFEE cafs. Under his leadership, Mynews has also expanded into large-scale fresh food production through the establishment of the Japanese Food Hub, developed in partnership with renowned Japanese companies and consisting of Kineya Kitchen and Ryoyu Bakery.
Luk was named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 Malaysia, a recognition that reflects his entrepreneurial vision and commitment to innovation. Raised in a small village in Perak by parents who worked as rubber tappers, he attributes his achievements to their resilience and strong belief in education.
