His career reflects long-standing involvement in commercial activities, investment, and enterprise development across various sectors. He began his professional career at Bank Bumiputera Malaysia Berhad, where he served for five years. During his tenure, he gained exposure to banking operations and international finance, and he left the organisation as Manager of the International Banking Division. Following his departure from the banking sector, Dato' Haji Ishak transitioned fully into business. Over the past five decades, he has been actively involved in various entrepreneurial and commercial ventures, focusing on business development, financial management, and investment activities. He has also served as a Director of several public-listed companies, including KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Berhad, Idris Hydraulic (Malaysia) Berhad, Golden Plus Holdings Berhad, and Prime Utilities Berhad.
