IMPACTING Capitals Strategic Thrusts DESCRIPTION The nature of our businesses require us to interact with a variety of natural environments, which is essential in order to extract key resources and generate value. However, doing so heightens the risk of environmental damage, which impacts local habitats, delicate ecosystems and the climate. In addition, by way of our resource extraction activities, our teams carry out work which can – if not properly managed – be dangerous. It is therefore incumbent upon us, as a responsible employer, to adopt practices that safeguard the physical wellbeing of our valued workforce at all times. • Any significant environmental damage that results from our business activities and is in excess of industry and/or government-agreed standards would significantly affect our reputation and, in turn, our ability to operate in key markets • Any serious injuries or loss of life that results from occupational safety and health negligence would significantly impact our reputation as a responsible employer • Any incidents across the environmental or employee spheres could result in damage to equipment, facility shutdowns, rectification costs and other disruptions to existing production schedules POTENTIAL IMPACT HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT ISSUES • Launching our Sustainability Framework, which outlines four key sustainability themes – plus attendant objectives and ambitions – that will guide our sustainability initiatives and actions in the years to come • Appointing sustainability champions in each of our workplaces to inculcate sustainable thinking at all levels • Implementing our net-zero roadmap and developing carbon reduction initiatives, which will continue to be refined moving forward • Prioritising electricity saving strategies and implementing energyefficiency technologies across our business presence • Maintaining strict compliance to our Code of Conduct and Business Ethics and all regulatory requirements in our countries of operation • Transitioning to the ISO 45001: 2018 standard, which represents global best practices in occupational safety and health MITIGATION STRATEGIES RISK MOVEMENT DAGANG NeXCHANGE BERHAD 62 KEY RISKS AND MITIGATION A.
