At the Group level, our flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) initiative is CampBijak®, an educational programme that seeks to instil a love for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (“STEM”) amongst underprivileged students in the Klang Valley region. While the programme was originally delivered through outdoor camps, the COVID-19 pandemic forced a rethink of our strategy, leading to the creation of an online module which was launched in August 2021. Since then, CampBijak® has been using a virtual platform and system dashboard to engage students, delivering learning outcomes while also building familiarity and essential skills on digital platforms. Since its establishment in 2016, close to 600 students have been impacted by this programme, and moving forward, we will look to further enhance the programme’s format and delivery with the aim of expanding its reach to a wider catchment area. Our Performance Beyond CSR activities, we contribute to community development through our unique business capabilities. SealNet Sdn Bhd (“SealNet”), for example, helps local SMEs to recruit employees and develop businesses through its digital trade facilitation functionalities. Meanwhile, IAC is a participant in the Malaysian Ministry of Finance’s MySTEP programme, which connects job seekers to trainings and short-term employment in the public sector and within GLC companies, thereby reducing unemployment. These levers of assistance are in addition to the preferential employment opportunities that all our companies provide to locals, serving to circulate economic value and develop skills within communities. As the livelihoods of local communities are closely intertwined with the health of natural environments, our responsibility to communities also extends to operating in environmentally responsible ways. In this area, aside from adopting processes and technologies that reduce our resource extraction and waste footprint, we also consult with local communities to obtain valuable feedback on planned projects. Doing so enables us to minimise the risk of any unforeseen negative externalities that may arise due to our business activities. As a fast-growing organisation, we recognise that now is the time to expand our commitments and deliver targeted impact for more people in need. Our focus over the coming year will be to devise and implement a cohesive Group-wide community investment strategy; one that leverages the collective passion and purpose of our workforce through avenues for volunteerism.
