Memberships and Associations Active participation in relevant memberships and associations complements our commitment to sustainability by fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. United Nations Global Compact Malaysia and Brunei (UNGCMYB) Association of Islamic Banks in Malaysia (AIBIM) Value-based Intermediation Financing and Investment Impact Assessment Framework (VBIAF) Sectoral Guide Working Group Joint Committee on Climate Change (JC3)¹ CEO Action Network Gaining access to global resources on ESG and climate action, access to tools on ESG-related data, ability to benchmark against peers, and exchanging insights on industry developments. Led the development of the Waste Management Sectoral Guide with the 3rd Cohort of the Value-based Intermediation Assessment Framework (VBIAF). Bank Islam is a founding member of the JC3 and is represented in Sub-Committee 1: Risk Management where we play an active role as co-chair of the CCPT Implementation Group. We are also a participant in key initiatives including the Physical Risk and Transition Risk Working Groups and Sub-Committee 5: Bridging Data Gaps. Participating in Workstream 1 for Policy Advocacy and Workstream 2 for Awareness and Capacity Building. Board’s Role in Driving Sustainability To lead Bank Islam's sustainability transformation, the board is embarking on a strategic journey focused on building internal capacities, aligning incentives, and fostering stakeholder collaboration. Building Sustainability Capacity All Board Members have participated in sustainability-related training, which includes sessions organised internally, capacitybuilding through the BNM JC3 Annual Conference, and external programmes such as sustainability and climate workshops. This ensures all stakeholders are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to Bank Islam's sustainability journey. Linking Performance and Remuneration to Sustainability Goals We are committed to integrating sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) into our scorecards for performance management linked to remuneration, aligning our executive compensation with our environmental and sustainability objectives. By incorporating sustainability KPIs into our scorecards for remuneration, we incentivise our executives to prioritise and achieve our sustainability and climate goals.
