DESTINI Annual Report 2022

Notes to the Financial Statements Registration No. 200301030845 (633265-K) - 54 - 3. Significant Accounting Policies (Cont’d) (q) Employee benefits (i) Short term employee benefits Wages, salaries, bonuses and social security contributions are recognised as an expense in the reporting period in which the associated services are rendered by employees of the Group and of the Company. Short term accumulating compensated absences such as paid annual leave is recognised when services are rendered by employees that increase their entitlement to future compensated absences. Short term non-accumulating compensated absences such as sick and medical leave are recognised when the absences occur. The expected cost of accumulating compensated absences is measured as additional amount expected to be paid as a result of the unused entitlement that has accumulated at the end of the reporting period. (ii) Defined contribution plans As required by law, companies in Malaysia make contributions to the state pension scheme, the Employee Provident Fund (“EPF”). Some of the Group’s foreign subsidiaries also make contributions to their respective countries’ statutory pension schemes. Such contributions are recognised as an expense in the profit or loss as incurred. Once the contributions have been paid, the Group and the Company have no further payment obligations. (iii) Equity-settled share-based payment transaction The Group and the Company operate an equity-settled, share-based compensation plan for the employees of the Group and of the Company. Employee services received in exchange for the grant of the share options is recognised as an expense in the profit or loss over the vesting periods of the grant with a corresponding increase in equity. The total amount to be expensed over the vesting period is determined by reference to the fair value of the share options granted, excluding the impact of any non-market vesting conditions (for example, profitability and sales growth targets). Non-market vesting conditions are included in assumptions about the number of options that are expected to be vested. At the end of each reporting date, the Group and the Company revise its estimates of the number of share options that are expected to be vested. It recognises the impact of the revision of original estimates, if any, in the profit or loss, with a corresponding adjustment to equity. When the options are exercised, the Company issues new shares. The proceeds received net of any directly attributable transaction costs are credited to share capital when the options are exercised. When options are not exercised and lapsed, the share option reserve is transferred to retained profits. 132 DESTINI BERHAD ANNUAL REPORT 2022
