DESTINI Annual Report 2022

Notes to the Financial Statements Registration No. 200301030845 (633265-K) - 46 - 3. Significant Accounting Policies (Cont’d) (f) Intangible assets (Cont’d) (iii) Intangible assets acquired separately Intangible assets with finite useful lives that are acquired separately are carried at cost less accumulated amortisation and accumulated impairment losses. Amortisation is recognised on a straight-line basis over their estimated useful lives. The estimated useful lives and amortisation methods are reviewed at the end of each reporting date, with the effect of any changes in estimate being accounted for on a prospective basis. Intangible assets with indefinite useful lives that are acquired separately are carried at cost less accumulated impairment losses. (iv) Derecognition of intangible assets An intangible asset is derecognised on disposal, or when no future economic benefits are expected from use or disposal. Gains or losses arising from derecognition of an intangible asset, measured as the difference between the net disposal proceeds and the carrying amount of the asset, are recognised in profit or loss when the asset is derecognised. See accounting policy Note 3(n)(i) to the financial statements on impairment of nonfinancial assets for intangible assets. (g) Financial assets Financial assets are recognised in the statements of financial position when, and only when, the Group or the Company becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the financial instrument. When financial assets are recognised initially, they are measured at fair value, plus, in the case of financial assets not at FVTPL, directly attributable transaction costs. The Group and the Company determine the classification of their financial assets at initial recognition, and the categories include trade and other receivables, amount due from subsidiaries, associate company and joint venture, deposits, cash and bank balances. 124 DESTINI BERHAD ANNUAL REPORT 2022
