DESTINI Annual Report 2022

Notes to the Financial Statements Registration No. 200301030845 (633265-K) - 32 - 2. Basis of Preparation (Cont’d) (c) Significant accounting judgements, estimates and assumptions (Cont’d) Key sources of estimation uncertainty (Cont’d) Impairment of goodwill on consolidation The Group determines whether goodwill is impaired at least on an annual basis. This requires an estimation of the value-in-use of the cash-generating units to which the goodwill is allocated. Estimating the value-in-use amount requires the Group to make an estimate of the expected future cash flows from the cash-generating unit and also to choose a suitable discount rate in order to calculate the present value of those cash flows. The key assumptions used to determine the value-in-use is disclosed in Note 10. Impairment of intangible assets Determining whether the intangible assets are impaired requires an estimation of the recoverable amount, which is the higher of fair value less costs to sell and the value in use of the cash generating units to which intangible assets have been allocated. The fair value less costs to sell and value in use calculation requires the Group to estimate the fair value of the intangible assets and future cash-flows expected form the cash-generating units and an appropriate discount rate in order to calculate the present value of the future cash flows. As the assessment involved significant estimates and is based on both forecasted financial and non-financial information, management has to exercise judgment in estimating the recoverable amounts of these assts. The carrying amount of the intangible assets are disclosed in Note 10. Inventories valuation A review is made periodically of inventory for excess inventory, obsolescence and decline in net realisable value below cost and an allowance is recorded against the inventory balance for any such decline. The review requires management to estimate future demand for the products. In any case, the realisable value represents the best estimate of the recoverable amount and is based on the most reliable evidence available at the reporting date and inherently involves estimates regarding the future expected realisable value. The benchmarks for determining the amount of allowance or write-down include ageing analysis, technical assessment and subsequent events. In general, such an evaluation process requires significant judgement and materially affects the carrying amount of inventories at the reporting date. Possible changes in these estimates could result in revisions to the valuation of inventory. Details of inventories are disclosed in Note 13. 110 DESTINI BERHAD ANNUAL REPORT 2022
