Dato' Haji Syed Yussof Bin Syed Othman's service in financial services industry began with Public Bank Berhad followed by Amanah Capital Berhad.

In 1994, he began working as a Senior Manager for Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Kedah (PKNK). From 2005 to 2011, Dato' Haji Syed Yussof was seconded to BDB Infra Sdn Bhd (BDB Infra), a subsidiary of BDB, with his last position at BDB Infra as General Manager.

In 2011, Dato' Haji Syed Yussof returned to PKNK and was  promoted  as  Head of Business Development. He was also appointed as a board member of PKNK's subsidiaries including Kedah Medical Centre Sdn. Bhd. and Kulim Technology Park Corporation Sdn. Bhd. Dato' Haji Syed Yussof has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of PKNK since 12 November 2020 until 30 September 2023.
