Working experience and occupation 
Datuk Mohd Anwar has more than 38 years of experience in accounting and finance. He began his career as an Audit Trainee in Touche Ross & Co., in 1978, before joining Lembaga Kemajuan Kelantan Selatan as Finance Manager, in 1982.

Datuk Mohd Anwar was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Permodalan Kelantan Berhad in 1985, and left in 1991 to join PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia as Director of the Technology Group in Management Consulting Practice. Subsequently, he was made Partner and served up till 2015, before leaving in 2017 with his last position as Senior Director/Advisor. His time in PwC included substantial financial and business advisory work that spans over 500 consulting projects covering a wide range of industries such as construction, real estate, plantation, healthcare, oil & gas, and transport.

Datuk Mohd Anwar currently sits on the Boards of Maybank Islamic Berhad, Fraser & Neave Holdings Berhad, Pelaburan Hartanah Nasional Berhad and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad. He also sits on the Board of Technology Park Malaysia, and is an Executive Director in Sage 3, a boutique financial consultancy.
