Up to 27,573 foreign workers to benefit from clean water provided across all hostel projects. Average of 2-3 toilets to be provided for each individual hostel unit. 6.2 - Provision of toilets in the foreign worker hostels that exceed the minimum requirements set under Malaysia’s Accommodation and Centralised Accommodation Regulations 2020, ensuring adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all. 10.1 - Foreign workers’ hostel serves the purpose of promoting social inclusion through the provision of comfortable accommodations targeting the vulnerable foreign worker population. Up to 27,573 foreign workers of multiple nationalities to be provided with access to comfortable living conditions. Average of 3 security guards (1 day shift and 2 night shifts) to be at placed at each hostel. 10.3 - Safety and security measures, such as hiring of security guards, are implemented within the foreign workers’ hostel to ensure the safety of residents and to eliminate any discriminatory practices. 11.1 - Foreign workers’ hostels are aimed at providing foreign workers an upgrade from the previous living standards and conditions, with better access to basic amenities and more. To foster better overall wellbeing for foreign workers, thus contributing to upholding their basic human rights. Socioeconomic advancement and empowerment 8.8 - Safety and security measures, such as separating hostels according to gender, are implemented within the foreign workers’ hostels to ensure their safety and to eliminate any discriminatory practices. Safety and fairness to all whereby rental prices are fixed across the board with no discrimination in any aspect (i.e. company size, nationality, etc). Facilities are open and shared among all tenants whilst maintaining harmony among all foreign workers of varying nationalities and backgrounds. 9.4 - Foreign workers’ hostels are equipped rainwater harvesting and storage system are adopted to increase resource-use efficiency. Green building elements, such as eco-friendly rainwater harvesting, to contribute towards better environmental protection. 10.2 - More comfortable living conditions for foreign workers would empower and encourage workers to be able to be more productive in their jobs. Better productivity for employees while ensuring, at the same time, that the foreign workers’ basic needs are met. 10.3 - Foreign workers’ hostels provide assurance to the vulnerable foreign workers’ community that they receive equal treatment and are not discriminated against. All facilities and services are to be shared equally by all tenants with no discrimination. The welfare of all communities is taken care of and any issues are duly addressed. Green buildings 9.4 - Construction of new buildings/facilities that are expected to receive green building certifications, such as the Green Building Index that are under the umbrella of Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM). Green building certifications contribute towards energy saving, water saving and better space design, including energy-saving lighting design and ventilation etc. 11.6 - Incorporation of green building standards that pay attention to air quality and waste management in foreign workers’ hostels and/or refurbishment projects will contribute to the reduction of environmental impact. 92
