ANNUAL REPORT 2023 97 MATERIALITY MATTERS (cont’d) MORE ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT MANAGEMENT INITIATIVES The Group has instituted an Environmental Policy, along with a Waste Management and Recycling Statement, with the objective of reducing MYEG’s overall impact on the environment. These policies promote a more efficient utilisation of the resources the company possesses, emphasising a commitment to practices that do not harm the environment. The Policy helps display the Group’s commitment to managing MYEG’s environmental footprint and provides a better understanding of the Group’s approach to employees and relevant stakeholders. The full Environmental Policy together with Waste Management and Recycling Statement can be downloaded at https://www.myeg.com.my/investor-relations/governance. The policy is cascaded across our entire organisation, beginning at MYEG Tower to set best practices standards. These policy measures consist of: Switching off lights when not in use (during lunch hour and end of work) Printing only when necessary Editing documents on computer before printing Printers set to print double sided as default to save paper Shutting down computers and switching off appliances when not in use Encouraging reuse of products and packaging to prolog its useful life and delay disposal Encouraging the use of coffee mugs rather than single-use or disposable cups Unplugging machines at the end of work day WATER CONSUMPTION Water at MYEG is mainly consumed at office spaces. Recognizing the significance of monitoring and mitigating water usage, the Group underscores its commitment to sustainability through ESG-driven initiatives. On a broader scale, MYEG employs a chilled water system for its building’s cooling mechanism. This system facilitates water recirculation, contributing to a significant reduction in overall water consumption at a larger scale. On an individual and focused level, employees are periodically reminded to turn off water-based appliances after usage, in addition to receiving strong awareness on the importance of saving water. The Group is exploring more water-saving initiatives to better reduce water consumption, which also complements the currently-adopted best practices on water management.
