My EG Services Berhad Annual Report 2023

74 MY E.G. SERVICES BERHAD Registration No. 200001003034 (505639-K) In FY2023, MYEG found it essential to revisit and reassess its list of material sustainability topics to ensure that the Group’s prioritisation of material topics aligns with the current post-pandemic socioeconomic landscape. Therefore, the Group conducted a fresh materiality assessment exercise (“MAE”) in FY2023. Materiality matters typically refer to issues or topics that can both directly and indirectly impact MYEG’s values, especially when considered from a holistic economic, environmental, social and governance (“EESG”) perspective. MYEG’S MATERIALITY ASSESSMENT PROCESS Identification MYEG compiled a roster of relevant sustainability concerns, drawing guidance from the Bursa Malaysia’s Sustainability Reporting Guide, important reporting frameworks, peer comparative analysis, sector-specific considerations and broader sustainability trends. As part of the stakeholder analysis and prioritisation process, MYEG also identified its key stakeholder groups to ensure that the interests and concerns of these groups are duly considered when shortlisting sustainability matters. Prioritisation The prioritisation of material sustainability matters at MYEG was determined through a MAE survey, in which key business functions and management personnel across the Group actively participated. This prioritisation process factored in the significance of the sustainability matters to MYEG and their importance to stakeholders. Validation The results of the MAE were used to generate a materiality matrix. The matrix and findings of the MAE were then reviewed and refined accordingly before being approved. MATERIALITY MATRIX The recent MAE conducted by MYEG has allowed the Group to effectively revise and update its materiality matrix, ensuring a more accurate reflection of its latest prioritisation of the identified material topics. Also reflected in the materiality matrix are certain material topics that are naturally given more importance in how the Group approaches them, based on stakeholder prioritisation and the topics’ importance to financial and non-financial value creation.
