My EG Services Berhad Annual Report 2019

MY E.G. SERVICES BERHAD [Registration No. 200001003034 (505639-K)] 130 NOTES TO THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE FINANCIAL PERIOD ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2019 (CONT’D) 5. SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES (CONT’D) 5.20 FAIR VALUE MEASUREMENTS Fair value is the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date, regardless of whether that price is directly observable or estimated using a valuation technique. The measurement assumes that the transaction takes place either in the principal market or in the absence of a principal market, in the most advantageous market. For non-financial asset, the fair value measurement takes into account a market participant’s ability to generate economic benefits by using the asset in its highest and best use or by selling it to another market participant that would use the asset in its highest and best use. For financial reporting purposes, the fair value measurements are analysed into level 1 to level 3 as follows:- Level 1: Inputs are quoted prices (unadjusted) in active markets for identical assets or liability that the entity can access at the measurement date; Level 2: Inputs are inputs, other than quoted prices included within level 1, that are observable for the asset or liability, either directly or indirectly; and Level 3: Inputs are unobservable inputs for the asset or liability. The transfer of fair value between levels is determined as of the date of the event or change in circumstances that caused the transfer. 5.21 REVENUE FROM CONTRACTS WITH CUSTOMERS Revenue is recognised by reference to each distinct performance obligation in the contract with customer and is measured at the consideration specified in the contract of which the Group expects to be entitled in exchange for transferring promised goods or services to a customer, net of sales and service tax, returns, rebates and discounts. The Group recognises revenue when (or as) it transfers control over a product or service to customer. An asset is transferred when (or as) the customer obtains control of that asset. The Group transfers control of a good or service at a point in time unless one of the following overtime criteria is met:- • The customer simultaneously receives and consumes the benefits provided as the Group performs. • The Group’s performance creates or enhances an asset that the customer controls as the asset is created or enhanced. • The Group’s performance does not create an asset with an alternative use and the Group has an enforceable right to payment for performance completed to date. (a) Sale of Goods Revenue from sale of goods is recognised when the Group has transferred control of the goods to the customer, being when the goods have been delivered to the customer and upon its acceptance. Following delivery, the customer has full discretion over the manner of distribution and price to sell the goods, and bears the risks of obsolescence and loss in relation to the goods. A receivable is recognised when the goods are delivered as this is the point in time that the consideration is unconditional because only the passage of time is required before the payment is due.
