91 ANNUAL REPORT 2023 MST GOLF GROUP BERHAD 1 MST Golf Sports Club To promote wellness, we established the MST Golf Sports Club and organised ten after-work sports sessions in 2023. These sessions included activities such as nature walks, bowling, badminton and futsal with Team MST Golf, providing opportunities for relaxation and team building beyond the workplace. OUR INITIATIVES During the year under review, we took steps to promote employee wellbeing and create a safe work environment. 2 Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Management System To ensure a safe working environment, we comply with the Group’s Occupational Safety and Health Policy, which adheres to the relevant laws, including the Malaysia Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and the Singapore Workplace Safety and Health Act 2006. This policy establishes our Group’s OSH management system, outlining the responsibility structure for occupational safety and health within the Group. It includes protocols for Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation (HIRARC), as well as procedures for managing incidents and accidents. Our OSH policy and management system encompasses all employees, customers and visitors who may encounter potential hazards from our operations. We have also established a Safety and Health Working Committee, comprising a chairperson, a secretary and representatives from management and non-management employees to oversee safety compliance and address safety issues promptly. In 2023, we conducted risk management assessments aligned with the HIRARC protocol across all departments covering primary business operations to identify and mitigate safety and health hazards systematically. We maintain a comprehensive risk register of all identified hazards, including their severity, likelihood and ongoing control and mitigation interventions. Our risk control measures include eliminating tasks to remove hazards, substituting hazardous materials or processes with safer alternatives and implementing new administrative Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to manage risks effectively. In the event of any reported health and safety incidents, the Board and the Safety and Health Working Committee collaborate to determine preventive measures and enhance workplace safety. Furthermore, Heads of Departments (HODs) are responsible for managing risks and ensuring compliance with interventions within their respective areas. 3 Retail Store Safety In 2023, we identified accidents or injuries at retail stores involving staff due to unsafe practices and workplace hazards as highrisk situations with the potential for significant injuries. However, through the HIRARC and enterprise risk management process, we determined that there are currently no high-risk hazards that have significant health impacts. To effectively reduce accidents and injuries at our retail stores, we implemented various control measures, including conducting routine hazard assessments with designated store managers responsible for assessing potential hazards within and around the store. Identified hazards are documented and reported in the manager’s shop reports, ensuring timely resolution. We also conducted routine safety briefings to ensure all team members are well-versed in safety protocols, emergency procedures and hazard mitigation strategies.
