69 ANNUAL REPORT 2023 MST GOLF GROUP BERHAD GOING FORWARD Looking ahead, we aim to establish clear short-, mid- and long-term Scope 1, 2 and 3 emission reduction targets supported by relevant activities, initiatives and programmes to effectively manage MST Golf’s GHG emissions and ensure accountability. We also aim to improve our GHG emission data collection processes and integrate procedures to capture emissions data in all countries of operation from 2024. We will also strive to enhance the comprehensiveness of our Scope 3 emissions reporting by including more relevant categories to disclose emissions closer to reality. Additionally, we will enhance collaboration and communication through employee training, regular disclosures and stakeholder engagement activities focusing on our greenhouse gas reduction efforts. Our efforts aim not only for effective emission reduction but also to create a larger positive outreach to stakeholders, promoting environmental responsibility for a more sustainable future. Using our Group’s total floor space as the denominator, our GHG emissions intensity for 2023 is 0.02059 tCO2eq/m². We calculated the intensity using total floor space, including all head offices and retail outlets, as we mainly operate a retail-based business where floor space represents our business scale and bulk of carbon emissions. As we expand operations, we intend to reduce our GHG emission intensity to reflect successful emissions management. GHG Emissions Intensity While accurately reflecting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions is crucial, we understand reducing greenhouse gases at the source is more important. We did not initiate emission reduction initiatives in 2023 as our baseline data was not established. We expect increased yearly emissions as we expand Scope 3 categories and enhance Scope 1 and 2 calculations, potentially shifting the baseline year. However, we remain committed to reducing overall Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions through initiatives starting 2024. While immediate results may not be seen, we strive for sustainable measures to noticeably reduce emissions within five years.
