40 Annual Report 2021 Towards the Society (Cont’d) MKH supports community-based programmes and sustainable initiatives intended to improve the wellbeing of disadvantaged people and reduce socio-economic disparities through various corporate social responsibility (“CSR”) activities such as charity donation drives, financial aid, sponsorship for local authorities and school aid. With our aim to help to ease the burden of students from B40 group and improve the students’ learning ability, our CSR programme namely “Mata Sihat Lebih Jelas” has provided free spectacles to 30 students from schools in Kajang. During the financial year, we contributed approximately RM664,033 in thecommunityengagement that supported a total of 50 beneficiaries included education institutions, local authorities and non-profit organisations. Concerned with community impacted from the COVID-19 pandemic, we donated food items, daily necessities and cash donations to 6 welfare homes around Kajang comprising old folks homes and orphanage to assist in their needs and management cost. In addition, food packs were distributed to students from various schools in Kajang. To support the Government’s COVID-19 vaccination program, Mewah Club Kajang owned by the Group served as a vaccination centre. Prior to the COVID-19 movement control by Indonesian government, our Plantation Division had actively conducted the anti-COVID-19 programmes. These included socialisation efforts to educate our workers on COVID-19 preventionmeasures, physical distancing, cleanliness, sanitisation, quarantine procedures and implementation of controlled entry and exit at our plantation check points. Our continued efforts to ensure all parties’ health and safety, had to date been well-received by the workers and local communities at large. Our Plantation Division in East Kalimantan, Indonesia is operating as usual albeit with added biosecurity measures against COVID-19. Thorough programs had been implemented to ensure the safety of our workers and neighbouring communities, which had been instrumental to ensure zero occurrences of COVID-19 within our plantation thus far. To-date, our plantation was able to ensure an uninterrupted process workflow for continued sustainability and revenue generation. Given our plantation’s success in the combat against the pandemic, our management was invited to serve as part of the local authorities’ think tank towards the sustainability of the province’s efforts in crisis management. Part of our initiative included continued socialisation of biosecurity measures to educate the general public, reinforced with donation of masks to communities identified to be at risk from the pandemic. Our Plantation Division has also conducted COVID-19 vaccination program for the workers and their family members. Aspart of thePlantationDivision’s corporate social responsibility, we donated 50 units of Oxygen Regulators to the general hospital namely Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah (RSUD) Aji Muhammad Parikesit in East Kalimantan as assistance for their medical support equipment. PT Maju Kalimantan Hadapan has been awarded for its excellent engagement in COVID-19 Prevention Program at Workplace, a Gold Category Award and Zero Accident Award. As a seasoned builder of affordable housing, we commit to escalate our brand presence in the real estate industry and also engage the community where the company operates in a responsible and sustainable manner. The Board is of the view that the existing sustainability practices adopted are adequate and pertinent to steer the Group’s sustainable growth. Nonetheless, it will consider the need to implement other sustainability practise, as appropriate, to complement existing ones as the Board monitors the sustainability performance of the Group’s operations on an ongoing basis.
