The submission covered 95 entities and funds registered with the IRBM for CRS purposes. - Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (“FATCA”) Kenanga Group completed its FATCA reporting in July 2024. The reporting complies with submission requirements to the IRBM for the 2023 reporting year by 15 August 2024. • Upholding Ethical Business Standards in Vendor Engagement Kenanga Group sets high ethical and professional standards for all vendors, service providers, and business partners through its Group Code of Conduct for Vendors (“Vendor Code”). This ensures alignment with our core values of integrity, accountability, and ethical business practices, covering key areas such as compliance with laws, business ethics, confidentiality, human rights, and environmental responsibility. Vendors must adhere to all applicable regulations, avoid fraud and corruption, protect sensitive information, maintain fair labour practices, and implement sustainable operations. To ensure compliance, the Group conducts due diligence and periodic assessments. Vendors found in violation may face corrective actions, including suspension or termination of business relationships. By enforcing the Vendor Code, we foster trust, transparency, and strong corporate governance across our vendor relationships. COMMITMENT TO CONTINUOUS EDUCATION AND AWARENESS Effective communication is essential to ensuring employees understand their responsibilities, uphold integrity, and protect stakeholder interests. To support this, Group Regulatory actively engages employees through structured training and awareness initiatives, keeping them informed of regulatory developments, ethical expectations, and corporate governance enhancements. A range of methods is utilised to deliver these initiatives effectively. Employees gain access to informative video content, interactive quizzes that reinforce key concepts, and webinars that facilitate in-depth discussions and real-time engagement. Additionally, post-training assessments evaluate comprehension and ensure employees accurately grasp the intended information. This multi-channel approach cultivates a well-informed workforce equipped to navigate regulatory and ethical requirements effectively. • Fraud Awareness Campaign Kenanga Group has been a Corporate Alliance Partner of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (“ACFE”) since 2015. This partnership reflects our strong commitment to combating fraud by fostering education, reinforcing ethical leadership, and setting a clear tone of integrity from the top. In 2024, the Group organised its 8th annual Fraud Awareness Week (“FAW”) programmes from 18 November to 22 November, held in conjunction with ACFE’s International FAW. The theme, Innovate, Integrate, Insulate, captures our proactive approach to navigating the ever-changing business and regulatory landscape. It reinforces our dedication to driving innovation, strengthening collaboration, and building resilience in all our initiatives. Beyond advancing fraud prevention and detection, FAW provides a platform for promoting good business practices, reinforcing governance, and nurturing a corporate culture that thrives in the face of evolving regulations. This commitment aligns with the United Nations Global Compact’s 10th Principle, which calls on businesses to take a firm stand against corruption. The 8th FAW also reaffirms the Group’s dedication to the ‘Governance’ pillar of our broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) compliance strategy. By driving awareness of fraud risks in the financial industry, the Group continues to emphasise the importance of good governance, ensuring that fraud detection and prevention remain top priorities. FAW Opening Ceremony The Opening Ceremony of the Group’s FAW 2024 was held on Wednesday, 20 November, at the Auditorium Azman Hashim, Bangunan Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (“AICB”), Kuala Lumpur. It marked a significant return to an in-person format after being conducted virtually since 2020. With over 150 attendees, the strong turnout showed a shared commitment to fighting fraud and upholding ethical standards in the financial sector. The ceremony featured insightful talks and discussions on fraud, bribery, and corruption. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Haji Azam Bin Baki, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, spoke about the latest strategies in fraud and corruption prevention. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, Chairman of Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad, shared the Group’s perspective, emphasising the importance of working together to combat fraud and thanking attendees for their continued support. The event also celebrated outstanding contributions to fraud prevention, including Kenanga Group employees who played a key role in preventing fraud. FAW Games The FAW Games 2024 reached a new milestone with 250 teams competing, a 14.16% increase from 2023. The edu-games saw strong participation from both internal and external teams, with 147 teams from Kenanga Group and 103 teams from leading organisations across various industries. The overwhelming response highlights the FAW Games’ significant role in promoting awareness, teamwork, and excellence in fraud prevention. External teams included major institutions such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the Securities Commission Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Securities Industry Development Corporation (“SIDC”), and Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja, alongside well-known companies like PETRONAS, Permodalan Nasional Berhad, SD Guthrie, and FGV Holdings Berhad. Strengthening its global presence, the FAW Games welcomed nine (9) teams from Singapore, Indonesia, India, South Africa, and Belgium. The competition had nine (9) rounds, with early matches held virtually, leading up to intense in-person battles from the Quarterfinals onward. Video Contest on Scam Awareness Kenanga Group introduced the Video Contest on Scam Awareness as part of the FAW Campaign to educate, inspire, and drive action against financial fraud. Open to both the public and Kenanga Group employees, the contest used creativity as a tool to simplify complex fraud concepts, making them more relatable and impactful. By providing an interactive and engaging platform, the initiative raised awareness and encouraged the community to take an active role in preventing scams. Participants were invited to produce engaging and informative video content highlighting various scam tactics, making complex fraud schemes more accessible and relatable to a broader audience. This initiative aligned with FAW’s goal of promoting vigilance and proactive awareness within the financial ecosystem. A panel of three (3) external judges, Ms. Cindy Sim Theng Siew from Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Mr. Srithar Sriramulu from PETRONAS, and Puan Maizurah Hatta from the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, evaluated the submissions based on creativity, message clarity, relevance, and overall impact. FAW 2024 Countdown Quiz In the lead-up to FAW 2024, the FAW 2024 Countdown Quiz engaged Kenanga Group employees with a series of quizzes released on three (3) designated days, turning compliance-related learning into an interactive experience. The initiative highlighted key principles, ensuring employees entered FAW 2024 with a stronger awareness of ethical responsibilities. Designed to build anticipation and reinforce key knowledge, the quiz covered essential topics such as whistleblowing, workplace ethics, integrity, and measures against fraud, bribery, and corruption. In recognition of their efforts, 50 employees who submitted all-correct responses received small tokens. Beyond generating excitement for FAW 2024, the Countdown Quiz emphasised the importance of vigilance, ethical decision-making, and fraud prevention in an engaging and memorable way.
