Change in fair value is recognised as a gain or loss in profit or loss and is respectively included in ‘other operating income’ or ‘other operating expenses’ in the statement of profit or loss and other comprehensive income. All gains or losses are unrealised. Fair value hierarchy The fair values of investment properties are categorised as follows: Level 3 2024 2023 RM’mil RM’mil Land and buildings 4,686 4,106 Determination of fair value The fair values of investment properties were determined by external, independent valuation companies, having appropriate recognised professional qualifications and recent experience in the location and category of properties being valued. Valuation processes In determining the fair value, the valuers have used valuation methods which involved certain estimates. In assessing the fair value measurements, the Group reviewed the valuation methodologies and evaluated the assessments made by the valuers. The Group exercised its judgement and was satisfied that the valuation methods and estimates were reflective of the current market conditions. The valuation reports were prepared in accordance with recognised appraisal and valuation standards.
