OVERVIEW OF FY2022 BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT The foundry industry recorded stronger than expected growth in the last financial year, with the boon greatly fuelled by the transition to remote working necessitated by global COVID-19 lockdowns. Simultaneously, the industry also experienced growing demand for ICs used in automobiles, medical devices, military equipment and smart home appliances during the same period. A third factor that came into play was the rising prevalence of Internet of Things (IoT) enabled electronic devices across a wide range of industries, including retail, medical, automotive and electronics, which served to further boost the demand for ICs. WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO The lone entity in our Technology Division is SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“SilTerra”), a global semiconductor manufacturing player that operates a pure-play 200mm global semiconductor foundry in Kulim, Kedah, with sales and marketing offices in Kulim and Hsin-Chu, Taiwan. With an industry presence that stretches back to 1995, SilTerra has established a robust global reputation for offering a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and services to the semiconductor sector. In our efforts to expand our growth potential and future-ready our business, we have made significant recent progress into more advanced emerging technology sectors such as Silicon Photonics, Bio-photonics, MEMS on CMOS, Galium Nitride(GaN), BCD and Discrete Power.
