SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT We have a responsibility to extract, use and dispose of resources in ways that minimise negative impacts on natural environments and local communities within the vicinity of our operations. This responsibility is heightened by the increasing scarcity of water, higher levels of air and water pollution around the world, and the relative resource-intensiveness of our Technology division. Across the Group, we aim to adopt a comprehensive approach, while also exploring the use of low-impact strategies – such as rainwater harvesting and waste recycling – to minimise the impact of resource extraction and waste disposal on the environment. At all times, we remain abreast of and compliant with regulations in waste management, including in the disposal of electrical and electronic instruments, whereby external service providers are engaged to ensure safe disposal in line with prevailing regulations. We are cognisant that, as a global organisation, a more thorough approach to resource management will be required to minimise the adverse environmental impacts of our operations worldwide. This will also help to maintain the confidence of our stakeholders, whilst keeping up with the evolving regulatory requirements. As such, our subsidiary-level Sustainability representatives are working hard to identify green technologies that may reduce negative environmental impact while enhancing productivity within each of our companies. Our semiconductor manufacturer SilTerra has adopted stringent resource management practices, which are detailed in the case study below. DAGANG NeXCHANGE BERHAD 168
