BEYOND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE, VALUE CREATION IS CRITICAL ŚȃȈȢlj ɽȃlj ʰljƃɨ ѵѳѵѳ ȴƃʰ ȃƃʤlj ƹljljȶ ƃ year of slow performance especially in terms of conventional growth, it was also a year that came with many opportunities to create value for our ȴʍȢɽȈɥȢlj ɰɽƃȟljȃɁȢǁljɨɰӝ ŚȈɽȃɁʍɽ ǁɁʍƹɽӗ :ÝřŽAӸѴѼ ȃƃǁ ƹljljȶ ɧʍȈɽlj ǁljʤƃɰɽƃɽȈȶǼ for a large portion of our stakeholders, but as a bank driven by a noble purpose, we continued to stand by our customers, employees and communities, offering them hope and assistance to navigate through the difficulties. For instance, we supported 9ƃȶȟ ÇljǼƃɨƃ ÃƃȢƃʰɰȈƃԇɰ ӯ9ÇÃӰ ȈěK¶ A programme and worked with various State Islamic Religious Councils (SIRC) and SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp) ɽɁ ɥɨɁʤȈǁlj ǹȈȶƃȶƺȈƃȢ ƃɰɰȈɰɽƃȶƺlj ɽɁ 9ѷѳ individuals and asnaf-owned micro- enterprises, who are amongst the most vulnerable segment during the pandemic. ěȃɨɁʍǼȃ ȈěK¶ Aӗ ʥlj ƺȃƃȶȶljȢȢljǁ ĄÃѸ million from BNM’s Micro-Enterprise Facility Fund (MEF) towards microfinancing, ƹljȶljǹȈɽɽȈȶǼ Ѷѷ ɨljƺȈɥȈljȶɽɰ ʥȈɽȃ ĄÃѸѶѹӗѳѳѳ ǁȈɰƹʍɨɰljǁ ƃɰ Ɂǹ ѶѴ Aljƺljȴƹljɨ ѵѳѵѳӝ Similarly, we also launched the first-of- its-kind sadaqah-funded microfinance innovation called BangKIT. The main objective for the introduction of the microfinance facility is to assist selected unbanked and underbanked micro- entrepreneurs in obtaining capital start- up or expanding their business. The provision of the financial support will subsequently build a credit record for recipients, qualifying them to receive other financing facilities in the future. Ślj ljʯɥljƺɽ Ѷѳѳ ɽɁ ѶѸѳ ɨljƺȈɥȈljȶɽɰ ʥȈȢȢ ƹljȶljǹȈɽ ǹɨɁȴ ɽȃlj ĄÃѵ ȴȈȢȢȈɁȶ ǹʍȶǁ ɽȃƃɽ has been allocated for this facility. For our employees, we prioritised their ȃljƃȢɽȃ ƹʰ ljȶɰʍɨȈȶǼ ɰɽɨȈȶǼljȶɽ :ÝřŽAӸѴѼ SOPs such as workplace distancing, sanitisation and travel protocols as mandated by the government . In addition, we also introduced various measures to ensure employees’ wellbeing such as staggered and flexible working hours, staff rotation and split workforce for critical business units. The pandemic offers an opportunity for us to embrace online and digital work practices, which include increased usage of online meeting platforms for conducting staff meetings as well as organising town hall sessions over digital channels for rallying employees towards common business goals and improving their morale.
