Dato' Philip Tan is a Professional Board Director and Treasury Training Consultant with nearly 40 years of experience in banking and finance, complemented by over 15 years of boardroom experience in governance and oversight.
He held various regional and senior leadership positions with Citigroup, including Financial Markets Head and Country Treasurer, and subsequently served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Citibank N.A. Asia Pacific Emerging Markets Sales and Trading Business Group in Singapore until his retirement in 2006. Prior to joining Citigroup in 1995, he spent 14 years with the MUI Group of Companies in Malaysia in senior management roles.
He has extensive board experience across Malaysia financial services and capital markets sectors. His previous directorships include Citibank Berhad, MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Berhad, Cagamas Berhad, Danajamin Nasional Berhad, Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd, Private Pension Administrator Malaysia, S P Setia Berhad and China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (GuangXi) Development Co. Ltd.
Currently, he serves as an Independent Director of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad, SD Guthrie International Limited and Maybank International Holdings Sdn Bhd, and as Chairman of the Board of Members of Maybank Securities Limited Vietnam.
He is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the ICLIF Executive Education Centre, Asia School of Business, an Associate Fellow of the AICB and a Fellow of the ICDM. He previously chaired Bank Negara Malaysia Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee, currently serves as an External Member of its Financial Market Infrastructure Committee, and chairs the Task Force on the Industry-Led Multi-Lender Restructuring Framework. |
