Chairman’s Statement (Cont’d) Dear Shareholders, On behalf of the Board of Directors, it gives me great pleasure to present to you the Annual Report of Datasonic Group Berhad (“Datasonic” or “The Group”) for the financial year ended 31 March 2020 (“FY20”). OUR RESULTS Our profit after tax (PAT) for FY20 grew 65.7% to RM60.369 million from RM36.435 a year ago, as revenue strengthened 12.7% to RM247.540 million from RM219.559 million, due mainly to:- • Higher deliveries of the MyKad cards and chips, as well as consumables for the MyKad, • Higher quantity of financial cards sold by our Regional Personalisation Services (“RPS”) division; and • New revenue streams from Indonesia, namely i. The deployment of auto gates on behalf of a customer at Batam Ferry Terminal; and ii. Commercial sales business by PT Datasonic Teknologi Indonesia. This dividend has not been reflected in the financial statements for the current financial year but it will be accounted for in shareholders’ equity as an appropriation of retained profits for the next financial year ending 31 March 2021. The Directors do not recommend the payment of any final dividend for FY20. With this, total dividends in respect of FY20 would be 3 sen per share, versus total dividends of 2.5 sen per share in respect of FY19.
